Overview

TxtVideo is a cloud-based app that allows users to create viral text-messaging videos. It was hurriedly but successfully launched in 2018 to the JVZoo marketplace. Since then, it has undergone massive development and is now poised to be relaunched with its new features to the public.

Challenges

  • In the JVZoo industry, it is typical to encounter sales pages that have very long copy. It is important to design the sales funnel in such a way that it is still easy to consume.

  • We were given a tight deadline of 3 weeks.

  • It was our junior designer’s first experience with a launch.

Solution for the long copy

To give you a bit of my perspective, the copy for the first and longest sales page was 12 pages long. Hence, it was very important to cut the copy into sections. This made it easier for users to consume the sales page without getting overwhelmed.

There was also a sales video at the top of every page, for users who’d rather watch than read about the product.

Lastly, we used a lot of mockups and screenshots to clearly depict what was being discussed in the copy.

Solution for the Junior Designer

In my experience, product launches are high-stress periods, wherein everyone’s busy completing their own task, as quickly as possible. With very long copy, a tight deadline, and no one to help, it can get pretty overwhelming for a first-time designer.

Unfortunately, I barely had time to train our junior designer. But I knew it was important for her to experience firsthand how to design a sales page, under the pressure of a launch. So I decided to assign to her the last and shortest sales page.

While I took 1.5 weeks to create the first draft for the 3 sales pages, she took 1 week for hers. I finalized mine in a few days and started working on the rest of the sales funnel. In the end, I still had time to collaborate with her as we finalized her assigned sales page. However, we did use up the last weekend for this part. That got the CEO worried but I told him this was an important part of the learning process. Plus, I did assure him that the sales funnel was going to be ready a day before the launch. (We usually worked until the last minute before the pre-launch webinar, so this was actually early for us.)
