Figs and Blossoms
Hello, Janine! I’ve noticed huge changes to the website since I last visited. Cheers! It looks wayyy better!
Here are a few more ways you can further improve your website:
Suggestion #1
Organize your navigation menu
There are a couple of things that you can do to organize your navigation menu.
You may delete “Search” from the menu because the magnifying glass at the top right corner leads to the same page, making it redundant.
Second, I believe “Blog” should be spelled without the “s” at the end.
Rename “Catalog” to “All Products”. Being straight to the point makes it easier for the customer to know which link to click.
Create a sub-menu titled “Shop”, the way Posh Pocket Shoes has done: https://share.getcloudapp.com/jkuLZ81Z. Reducing the number of links in the navigation menu makes it so much easier for the customer to shop on your website. Instead of having to choose between “Catalog”, “Collections” and “Gift Sets”, they will now be able to go straight to “Shop”.
Not sure how to create a sub-menu? Check Shopify’s article here.
Under the “Shop” sub-menu, you can put “Gift Sets”, links to other product collections, and at the very end, “All Products” (aka Catalog).
If you want the “Gift Sets” to be featured on your navigation menu, you can choose to have two shop links, namely “Shop All Products” and “Shop Gift Sets”.
Suggestion #2
Optimize your hero section
The topmost section of your page is called the hero section. This is a vital piece of your website because it takes up most of a user’s screen when he/she first visits your website.
There are usually three parts on this: the heading, the subheading, and the call-to-action button.
The heading must catch a user’s attention. If possible, it would be best if it answers the questions “Why should you buy from me?” or “What value do I provide?”.
The sub-heading is optional. If you choose to put one, it should further support the heading.
The call-to-action button is required. This stands out from the rest of the page and helps you guide your customer to do what you want them to do; in your case, to shop. It is important even though you already have a “Shop” link in your navigation menu because without reading anything, customers can immediately see this. Also, keep in mind that the navigation menu (along with the “Shop” link) does not show up in mobile, making this button more important.
Given all of this, here are some points for you to consider:
Add a button saying “Shop Now” and link to “All Collections” or “All Products”.
Change your heading’s font size. You can increase its size by going inside the editor, moving the text from “Text” to “Heading”: https://share.getcloudapp.com/2NuwyWZD
Suggestion #3
Optimize product titles
I noticed that your “Gift Sets” are simply named Set A, Set B and Set C. The product names in the images are not always big enough to be read, so I had to open each Gift Set to see what they included. I think it would make it easier for customers to shop if the Gift Set name also mentioned which products are included.
In the screenshot below, you will see the “Catalog” or “All Products” page. When the filter is set to “Sort Alphabetically”, products with names that start with a number go straight to the top of the list. Hence, the sorting isn’t by product name anymore; it’s being sorted by how much fluid is in each product. In this case, you might want to consider moving the quantity to the end of each product name.
Suggestion #4
Optimize product images
I am not particularly sure about this but I think that your Shopify theme prefers square images. As seen in the screenshot above, a square thumbnail perfectly lines up with its caption; however, a vertical rectangle thumbnail does not. Again, it’s a small thing but you might want to consider uploading only square images to your website.
Try changing the number of products in a row from “4” to “3”. Your website has very beautiful product images. Those images deserve to be bigger ;)
Hey Janine! I hope I was able to help you improve your website in one way or another. Of course, as the business owner, you still know what is best. So take all these suggestions with a grain of salt.
Feel free to reach out anytime. Lots of luck to you and Figs & Blossoms!
Cheers,
Abby
