Overview

Build My Wealth is a financial management app that lets you:

• track your finances in less time,

• spend with less guilt, and

• live with more freedom.

It was founded by childhood sweethearts, Michael and Rose May Sanchez. Together, they dream of equipping the masses with wealth-building tools, so that kindness can overflow the world.

Challenge

To design a robust app that has an easy-to-follow user journey, despite the complexity of financial management (e.g. income allocation, budgeting with a partner, etc.)

What we did

• We had multiple discussions on manual financial management (e.g. Excel, notes, etc.) to help envision the potential UX journey.

• Each designer was assigned features to work on for clear division of work.

• We studied competitors (e.g. Money Lover, Money Manager, Bluecoins, etc.) and took note of what they did best.

• We studied other apps which shared the same features as ours, even if they weren’t finance-related (e.g. Reflectly, Dreamfora, Fabulous, etc.)

• We were careful to be inclusive when designing a feature for different scenarios (e.g. when a user has a monthly salary vs. a user who relies on rental income vs. a user who relies on investment returns vs. a freelancer/entrepreneur, etc.)

• We had weekly demo meetings to share and get feedback from the rest of the team.

• We got feedback from beta-testers, thanks to the interviews conducted by one of the co-founders, Michael.

Status

The app is currently in development and will hopefully launch this 2022. I’ll make sure to update this page once it’s available to try!
